February Haiku/Senryu

February

MRI
an aching heart
nuclear man

Freedom 55,
our fun in the sun
mortgaged

Valentine’s Day,
erased memories of what
might have been

glazed path
my walking cane taps
winter’s pulse

fledgling flies
but never leaves
the nest

dead elm
chips in the snow
woodpecker

dog lost
coyote prints in the snow
panic

crows taunt
Commons Question Period
hawk retreats

by-elections coming
cawing crows and mourning doves
no owls

lunch break
teens beneath the old pine
marijuana

numb
white becomes black
frostbite

bus stop
her perfume hides the soot
asthma attack

ride pick-up
stared at by strangers
cardboard man

listen to
the frozen forest
creak and sigh

well steeped
at the kitchen table
fortunes told

Context for "February Haiku"
I am a novice at haiku. These are my first attempts. I will try and post a series of haiku, senryu, and tanka each month!
